Lake Union Events: Things to Do in July

Hold onto your hats! There are lots of music events and fun summer activities happening in Lake Union throughout July. Here’s a sampling…

July 1-4: Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival
1pm – 4pm | Lake Union Park
Celebrate our city’s maritime history with a special Wooden Boat Festival at Lake Union Park from July 1st through July 4th. Presented by the Center for Wooden Boats, the festival includes rides and tours of wooden boats, a Quick & Daring Boatbuilding challenge, live music, and more.

July 1: Seattle Outdoor Cinema – “Red, White & Dead: Shaun of the Dead”
6pm | SLU Discovery Center
Just in time for the 4th of July, Seattle Outdoor Cinema is bringing back their Red, White & Dead Zombie Walk & Movie Party with a screening of “Shaun of the Dead”. The movie will be screened in high-definition at the SLU Discovery Center’s grass lawn on a 55-foot inflatable screen. This event is 21+, and don’t miss a fun zombie walk around Lake Union, starting at Denny Park, before the event to get in the mood.

July 7: First Free Thursday at MOHAI
10am – 8pm | Museum of History and Industry
On the first Thursday of the month, July 7th, the Museum of History and Industry offers free general admission for the museum’s permanent exhibits – all day long! The free admission includes: True Northwest: the Seattle Journey, and the Bezos Center for Innovation.

July 8: Seattle Makers Market
11am – 5pm | 400 Fairview Avenue
Visit the ground floor of the Market Hall at 400 Fairview on Saturday, July 8th for the monthly Seattle Makers Market series! This free event features handmade goods from crafters, artists, makers and artisans in the Seattle area.

July 8: Seattle Outdoor Cinema – “The Wedding Singer”
6pm | SLU Discovery Center
It’s the largest outdoor movie wedding, and you’re invited! A lucky winning couple is getting married with a themed photo booth, 80’s cover band, and beer garden. Plus, there will be costume prizes for the best-dressed groomsman, bridesmaid, and Julia, Robbie or Glenn Gulia from the movie.

July 10: Out to Lunch Concert – Champagne Honeybee
4:30pm – 6pm | Amazon’s Van Vorst Courtyard
The Downtown Seattle Association’s Out to Lunch concert series is back and bigger than ever! This free event features Champagne Honeybee on Monday, July 10th.

July 15-16: Seattle Street Food Festival
All Day | South Lake Union
The 5th annual Seattle Street Food Festival is coming up July 15th and 16th! Enjoy the bounty of Seattle food trucks and curbside bites, plus local handmade products along four city blocks in the heart of South Lake Union. This year, there are over 75 vendors!

July 15: Seattle Outdoor Cinema – “The Fifth Element”
6pm | SLU Discovery Center
Cult classic “The Fifth Element” will be screening on Seattle Outdoor Cinema’s 55-foot inflatable screen on July 15th, for your sci-fi viewing pleasure. It’s almost free and super fun!

July 16: 7th Annual Garden Party Extravaganza
1pm – 10pm | Serafina
Serafina is hosting their annual Garden Party Extravaganza and celebrating 26 years on Sunday, July 16th. There will be a whole roasted pig, grilling on the patio, live music, a photo booth, oyster bar, and introduction to new vintages of rosé to sample. Entrance is free, and food and drink tickets will be available for $6 each. At 2 p.m., there will be an Iron Bartender competition between Seattle’s five best bartenders. Call to participate as a judge for the Iron Bartender competition for $95, which includes five courses paired with the unique cocktail creations: 206-323-0807.

July 17: Out to Lunch Concert – The Flavr Blue
4:30pm – 6pm | 2121 7th Avenue
The Downtown Seattle Association’s Out to Lunch concert series is back and bigger than ever! This free event features The Flavr Blue on Monday, July 10th.

July 21: Pinknic on the Patio
4pm – 7pm | Cuoco
Cuoco is hosting a patio party on Friday, July 21st to feature the delicious pink wine of the summer: Rosé! The first ever Pinknic on the Patio Rosé Party will include snacks, summer music and plenty of rosé samples to enjoy. Wear pink and white! Tickets are $20 per person in advance, or $25 per person at the door and include five tastings and snacks.

July 22: Seattle Outdoor Cinema – “The Big Lebowski”
6pm | SLU Discovery Center
The annual screening of “The Big Lebowski” at Seattle Outdoor Cinema is here on July 22nd! Sip one of three unique takes on the classic dude-approved cocktail, White Russians, and take part in a costume party as well as the movie.

July 24: Out to Lunch Concert – Limited Edition
4:30pm – 6pm | Amazon’s Van Vorst Courtyard
Limited Edition will be performing at this next Out to Lunch Concert event in South Lake Union.

July 26: Virginia V Cruise – Bridge to Bridge
7pm – 9:30pm | MOHAI Cafe
Many of Seattle’s bridges offer a unique story and draw visitors and tourists in their own right. For this educational and fun event, board the Virginia V in South Lake Union to explore the bridges around Lake Union and Lake Washington with historian David Williams. Your ticket includes a flight of beer from local Figurehead Brewing Company for those over 21. Tickets are $30 per person, $25 for MOHAI or Virginia V members, and $15 for those under age 21 (free for ages 5 and under). Buy tickets here.

July 29: Seattle Outdoor Cinema – “La La Land” Sing-Along
6pm | SLU Discovery Center
The new musical that won hearts all over the world, “La La Land”, is screening at the South Lake Union Discovery Center for Seattle Outdoor Cinema’s last July outdoor movie night on July 29th. There will be food trucks and a themed beer garden for 21+.

July 31: Out to Lunch Concerts – Scarlet Parke, The True Loves, and Planes on Paper
4:30pm – 6pm | 2121 7th Avenue, Denny Park, Amazon’s Van Vorst Courtyard, Starbucks
Five Out to Lunch concerts are taking place around Lake Union on July 31st. Scarlet Parke will be performing at 2121 7th Avenue, while The True Loves and Planes on Paper are performing in Denny Park. Bleachbear is performing at Amazon’s Van Vorst Courtyard, and General Mojo’s is playing at the Starbucks at 515 Westlake Avenue North.
