Lake Union Events: Seafair Summer Fourth

The Family 4th at Gas Works Park is no more, but the celebrations and fireworks show live on! This year, Seafair has taken on the July 4th celebrations at Lake Union. Seafair teamed with the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce to put on the event, which – due to their efforts for sustainability – will hopefully continue for years to come.

“We’re honored to have the opportunity to produce a fireworks celebration as part of our festival.  We’ve been celebrating summer in Seattle for over 60 years and our goal is to bring people together to connect and celebrate the community spirit of our city. It feels natural to include this event in our line-up,” said Beth Knox, President and CEO of Seafair.

The Summer Fourth at Gas Works Park is bound to stand up to the Family 4th’s beloved reputation as the highlight of annual Lake Union Events. This summer’s July 4th at Gas Works Park begins at noon on the Fourth of July, when the gates open, with exhibitors and an open beer garden. There will be cold-air inflatables for children, the Gravitron Gyroscope, egg-and-spoon races, food vendors, interactive booths, exhibitors, and more.

Activities commence at 2 p.m. with a stage performance of Velcro Mindset. At 3 p.m., there will be a myriad of family-friendly contests and activities including pie eating, sack races, hula hoop contest, and Tug-O-War. Those activities will occur every other hour until 7 p.m. (with another round in the middle at 5 p.m.). Payton Rector will perform on the stage at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The Seafair Princesses will make an appearance from 2 – 3:30 p.m., followed by the Seafair Pirates from 3:30 – 5 p.m. and the Seafair Clowns from 5 – 5:30 p.m.

Exhibitors will close at 8 p.m., and the Beer Garden closes at 9:30 p.m., in time for everyone to find a good seat for the fireworks show, which begins at 10:15 p.m.

Come for the fireworks show, or at noon for celebrations all day! Attendees can bring their own food to the park, but alcoholic beverages and personal barbecues are prohibited.
