Mark your calendars for these fun Lake Union events happening in April. There’s plenty of activity involving food, learning, and exciting neighborhood events…

April 2-19: Seattle Restaurant Week at Lake Union Eateries
Dinner | Around Lake Union
The spring Seattle Restaurant Week kicks off on Monday, April 2nd at various restaurants around Lake Union! Participating eateries are offering three dinner courses for $33 Sunday through Thursday each week through April 19th (excludes Easter Sunday). Around the neighborhood, the participating restaurants include: Chandler’s Crabhouse, Cicchetti Kitchen + Bar, Henry’s Tavern, Le Messe, Maslow’s by Farestart, Serafina Osteria e Enoteca, Sushi Kappo Tamura, and Trattoria Cuoco.

April 2: Cookbook Crush: Pasta By Hand
9am – 5pm | Hot Stove Society
Hot Stove Society’s resident pasta expert, Chef Bridget Charters, will demonstrate how to make Italy’s regional hand-shaped pasta for this special class on making Pasta By Hand. Enjoy delicious tastes of each pasta in an appropriate sauce, then roll up your sleeves to shape all four pastas yourself. Whatever you make of the malloreddus, trofie, pinci, and orecchiette pastas you’ll get to take home. The class includes a glass of wine or beer. Tickets are $90/person.

Wednesdays in April: Pasta Classes at Cuoco with Chef Stan

Cuoco’s weekly pasta classes continue through May, featuring specific pasta-themed evenings where participants will learn to make different types of pasta with techniques and recipes. Finish the class off with a delicious 3-course family dinner. Classes cost $55/person and include the class, dinner, wine and a take-home portion of the pasta you make. The April Cuoco Pasta Classes are:

  • April 4th – Tagliatelle noodles
  • April 11th – Ricotta Cavatelli
  • April 25th – Orecchietti

April 5: First Free Thursday at MOHAI
10am – 8pm | Museum of History and Industry
On the first Thursday of the month, the Museum of History and Industry offers free general admission for the museum’s permanent exhibits – all day long! The Free First Thursday in April is on the 5th. The free admission includes: True Northwest: the Seattle Journey, and the Bezos Center for Innovation.

April 6: Plant-Based Dinner with Vegan Wine
6pm | Daniel’s Broiler Lake Union
Enjoy four plant-based courses plus hors d’oeuvres at a special dinner featuring vegan wines at Daniel’s Broiler this month. Guest speaker Stewart Rose, Vice President of the Vegetarians of Washington and Luke Wohlers from Walden Selections will be curating this special event. Each course will be paired with an artfully selected wine. The cost is $100/person (excludes tax & gratuity). RSVP here.

April 14: SLU Saturday Market Opening Day for 2018
11am | South Lake Union
The South Lake Union Saturday Market opens for the 2018 season on April 14th! Join a community brunch with food trucks and booths, plus all of the produce and bounty from our region.

April 19: Backyard Pig Roast Fiesta
6:30pm | Brave Horse Tavern
Brave Horse Tavern and Chef Bradley are collaborating with Cantina Leña for a backyard pig roast on Thursday, April 19th! There will be a whole roasted pig, sides, and hot-off-the-griddle corn tortillas, with cold Mexican beers and a Cantina margarita. Tickets are $35/person and include all food and drink.

April 20: Stranger [Pastas and Wines and Other] Things Dinner
6:30pm – 8:30pm | Cuoco
The wine team at Cuoco is hosting a special event to help make their unique cellar program more approachable, with a chance to explore four obscure grape varietals paired with a delicious four-course menu from Chef Ron. Enjoy obscure wines and pastas at Cuoco’s Stranger Things Dinner this month, with tickets at $75/person.

April 20: The Hep Cat Ball
8pm | Museum of History and Industry
Join a jazz party at MOHAI! The Hep Cat Ball is a celebration of the museum’s landmark exhibit,  Seattle on the Spot: The Photographs of Al Smith. This ball features 1940s-style jazz, dancing and performances, with hors d’oeuvres for everyone and drinks available for purchase. Vintage attire is encouraged, and this event is open for all ages. Tickets are $20 for members and Langston Hughes African American Film Festival ticket holders, or $35 for the general public.

April 21: The Tenacious Ten 10K & 10-Mile Race
7am – 10:30am | Gas Works Park
Run around Lake Union for the Tenacious Ten 10K and 10-mile race, from the Snohomish Running Company and Oiselle. This race is for all levels of runners, as a flat course around the lake. Registration for the 10K is $75, $85 for the 10-mile, and $20 for the kids 1K. Race day begins at 7 a.m., with the race beginning at 8 a.m.

April 27-29: Food Lovers Weekend – Road Trippin’
9am – 5pm | Hot Stove Society
Explore the various foods from regions across the U.S. for the April Food Lovers Weekend, themed Road Trippin’. There will be cooking demonstrations, hands-on classes, wine tastings and more. The three day weekend starts Friday with a reception from 5 – 9 p.m., then demonstrations and classes will happen from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $995/person.

April 28: Maker Day – Start Soldering
12pm – 3pm | Museum of History and Industry
Learn how to solder for this month’s Maker Day at MOHAI. Metrix Create:Space will host this event with soldering irons, kits, solder and of course teachers to guide you with your project. Free for MOHAI members, included with museum admission.
